Bush is Trashing the Joint Before He Leaves…

November 14, 2008

Bush, like any fired employee trashing his surroundings before the new guy takes over, does his best to ruin the environment of the United States: dirty air, dirty water, and oil drilling around our national parks.
ALSO the undecided Senate races of Alaska, Minnesota, and Georgia, and the musical chairs of Chairmanships in the next Senate.
AND should the Seven Aphorisms of Summum be posted next to the Ten Commandments in Pleasant Grove, Utah? The Supreme Court will decide.

We’re Winning in Alaska!

November 13, 2008

Begich has pulled ahead of Stevens by 814 votes! Looks like we’ll have 58 Democrats in the Senate. (http://www.elections.alaska.gov/08general/data/results.pdf)
This one’s important because unlike Minnesota’s relatively moderate Coleman, an Alaska Republican would be from the Far Right and would almost certainly filibuster progressive initiatives.

And if Minnesota goes our way too, that would make 59, replacing a moderate Republican with a very liberal Democrat (Franken).

Then all eyes will be on Georgia’s December 2 Primary. If Jim Martin wins — which, let’s face it, is unlikely–we would have 60. And wouldn’t it be a joy to knock off Saxby Chambliss, the king of dirty campaigners, the guy who beat Democratic Senator Max Cleland — who lost two legs and an arm serving his country in Vietnam — by comparing Cleland to Bin Laden?

What will happen in the Obama Era?
How should Democrats reach out to Republicans?

Wither the Republican Party!

November 11, 2008

59% of Americans are excited by the election of Barack Obama.
65% think he will make a good President.
Even John McCain and George Bush are being gracious.
And then there are Republicans like my guest, strategist Mike Lane, who is one of the 28% of Americans that still don’t trust Obama.
Lane stands out like a single rain cloud on an otherwise beautiful day.
