The Pandemic of Gun Violence

During today’s episode, I outline how gun violence has transformed from an epidemic to a pandemic here in America. This includes America losing over 40,000 every year to gun violence. That’s an American killed by a gun every 15 minutes.

In the spirit of the Frederick Douglass quote, “I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs,” we now need to act in order to reduce gun violence. I explain how in the second part of today’s episode.

Gun Safety Initiative; Trump Terrorist

During today’s ‘Inside Scoop,’ I’m joined in the first half hour by Niko Battle. Niko is a senior at Kamiak High School in Mukilteo, Washington. He is a nationally ranked debater, a fellow for the ‘Yes On 1639’ campaign, and co-founder of ‘We Wont Be Next.’

Per ‘The Seattle Times, Initiative 1639 “would boost the legal age to buy a semi-automatic rifle to 21. Those who want such a weapon would have to pass an enhanced background check, take a firearms-training course, and wait 10 business days after purchase to take possession of the gun.

The initiative also requires owners to keep their guns secured at home, or they would face misdemeanor or felony charges, in some cases, if someone prohibited from possessing a weapon got access to it.”

During the second half hour, I’m joined by callers to discuss Caesar Sayoc, the mail bomb suspect who has been apprehended and faces 5 federal charges with up to 58 years in prison.

Wonder how many cops died because these yahoos loved their AR-15s. Why weren’t they “Good Guys with Guns” the NRA brags about? Why didn’t they “take out” the active shooter?

Because they were gun nuts. Not heroes. They loved parading their weapons around. But when shit got serious, they panicked and ran and caused the police to waste time and resources taking care of them.
NO ONE is safer when an untrained civilian carries an AR-15. So-called “Good Guys with Guns” lead to the deaths of MORE innocents than if the Good Guys didn’t have guns.
And if any of these so-called “Good Guys” were shot dead because they were carrying an AR-15 in the midst of an active shooting, who could blame the police for killing them?
