I watched the Lee Doran debate and I started listening to what you were saying about those who commented on YouTube about the debate.
I consider myself somewhere between a Conservative and a Libertarian. I don’t think it is the best interest of society to legalize marijuana. I belief that the state should get out of the marriage business as this is a religious ordinance. The individual States (because this is a State issue and not a Federal issue) should issue civil unions that are basically just a signing of a legal document between two parties. The people of the State can decide on who they want to have these civil unions, be it straight or anything else. The individual Religions can perform whatever type of marriage they see fit and the State must recognize that. Neither the State or the Fed should ever impose any restrictions on these marriages based on the 1st Amendment.
So therefore I don’t by default agree with you like you said.
I do want the State or the Feds to have anything to do with my body and that means health care. I think that in the case of abortion we are talking about he taking of life plain and simple. And Roe v Wade should be overturned because the Courts cannot legislate. This is a clear violation of the separation of powers and the 1oth Amendment. This is a States rights issue that has been unconstitutionally circumvented for far too long. Not to mention that this law is 40 years old. It is barbaric to hold to such legislation in light of the technological advances we have made in the last 40 years.
My point is that people on the right are not by default agreeing with you. You made way too much of a leap with that assumption. While my opinions may not represent the mainstream conservative or libertarian, I just don’t want to be lumped into any wild assumptions on your part.

Hi Mark. Listened to your show and I heard you mention my comment on YouTube – one of the few nice ones! Only I’m not a guy :). It’s pretty clear I was right about Lee’s fans being ignorant of what liberals really want and they were enraged that what you said was logical and fact based. Therefore you must be a ‘lier’ about what liberalism is about – because according to Glenn Beck and Rush liberals are all about taking away freedoms and Socialism.
Your conversation with Coco was interesting too: respect to her for her willingness to question her beliefs. I’ve always thought libertarians are fair on social issues but when it comes to economic issues they fail to take into account human nature and greed. Private charity cannot possibly provide all needs and corporations will always take the path that guarantees a quick profit unless they have regulations to force them to be responsible. Any decent person must take the BP disaster as bring a perfect case of a corporation taking the money saving route due to lack of regs – with disastrous decades long repurcussions.
