The President is malevolent.
The President is stupid.
Thank God the President is stupid.
Or his evil would be far more dangerous.

During this episode, I analyze the whistleblower’s complaint and the phone call between President Trump and Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky. I also explain the backstory behind the phone call, which is important to fully understanding the call.

TRAITOR

I discuss the complaint by a whistle-blower in the intelligence community reportedly involving President Trump and a promise to a foreign leader, the Trump DOJ intercepting the complaint (the potential coverup), why this could realistically be a traitorous act by the President, and how sadly unsurprising all of this is for Trump and his administration.

I also explain how I believe that House Intel Chief Adam Schiff and Democrats should respond to all of this.

With Deception and Lies, the GOP Shut Down Democracy in North Carolina (It’s not just Trump).

During today’s episode, I explain how North Carolina Republicans used the Anniversary of 9/11, and a Democratic member having Cancer, to ultimately usurp the will of the people by holding a sneak vote with half of their chamber empty.

How to Remember History

I discuss how, in my capacity as a Virginia State Delegate, this morning I helped to consign Jefferson Davis Highway in Arlington County to the dustbin of history. This, almost a century after Route One was first renamed to honor the Mississippi traitor who led the bloody fight against the Union in order to preserve slavery.

This is an important change because naming the highway in honor of Davis in 1922 — some sixty years after the Civil War — had very little to do with Davis, who had few, if any, ties to Virginia, other than serving as the President of the Confederacy in its Richmond capital. The purpose instead was to terrorize Virginia’s black population into submitting to unconstitutional second-class legal status under Virginia law. In 1922, Jim Crow laws, lynching, and the KKK were at their peak power, while poll taxes, literacy tests, and grandfather clauses kept the descendants of the courageous African-Americans who fought Davis and died for the Union from exercising their constitutional right to vote.

The values of a century ago are no longer Virginia values and certainly not the values of the people of Arlington or Alexandria. I’m proud every elected representative in Arlington (and Alexandria, which changed its signs earlier this year) emphatically supported the name change, and I thank both the Arlington County Board and the Commonwealth Transportation Board for unanimously standing on the right side of history.

Fire in the Amazon

I’m joined by Vice President of the National Wildlife Federation, Dr. Mustafa Santiago Ali. We discuss the Amazon Rainforest fires, including what caused them, why it’s taking so long to put them out, and how they are related to climate change.

The website for the National Wildlife Federation is NWF.org and their Twitter handle is @NWF. Dr. Ali’s handle is @EJinAction.

Also, please check out the website that Dr. Ali mentions during the broadcast, ZeroDeforestationCattle.org. The site aims to showcase how supply chain initiatives are supporting effective solutions for verified zero deforestation beef, leather, and tallow production in the Brazilian Amazon. The site also highlights ways for supply chain actors to support continuous improvement and ensure that cattle products sourced from this region do not contribute to the loss of tropical forests.
