Rigging the Election

December 8, 2004

(archived broadcast )
Are the Conspiracy Theorists Right? – Most of today’s broadcast is devoted to the shocking affidavit of Clinton Curtis, who says he was hired by the Florida Speaker of the House, Republican Tom Feeney, to rig voting on electronic machines.

Other issues to discuss:
1) Heil Scalia! – Scalia says that it was the athiesm of Nazi Germany that caused the Holocaust
2) Infallible Bush – Pakistani Leader Musharraf says that the world is far less safe since we invaded Iraq and that Bush’s decision to invade was a “mistake.” Within an hour, he’s forced to retract his statement.
3) Segregation Now, Segregation Forever! – Alabama voters decide to keep Jim Crow laws on the books.
4) Two America Update – Republicans cut Pell Grants below the population increase. Red-state voters apparently are against sending poor and middle class kids to college. “That’s for rich folk,” stated Johnny Appleseed, “We like to keep our younguns’ here on the farm!”
“Stop government subsidies to the liberal educated elite,” he added with a sneer, “and keep those blue-state subsidies to pay farmers like me for not growing nothing! Hell, I done not growed nothing for 10 years in a row. I DESERVE the government payments.”

Chris Smith–blame is a double-edged sword–dividing people into amorphous categories is perhaps the most idiotic thing an intelligent person could do in trying to solve the ills of this country

There is no question that ignorant redneck southerners are, in large measure, responsible for how backward our ‘great’ country is. These uneducated idiots, the product of subpar schools with 50% dropout rates, came me out in droves to elect Bush and parrot this bullshit about how we are promoting ‘freedom’ in Iraq. They think that they are the most patriotic citizens, yet they praise their stupid, illiterate, treasonous, shitkicking, shoeless great-great-grandfathers who fought against the Union to create their own backward country, where every white man, no matter how stupid and ignorant, could keep other human beings in chains.

    Hey Vicky,
I don’t automatically assume that farmers are uneducated people. Many years ago I worked with a very sharp electrical engineer who figured out he really wanted to be a farmer and dumped his old career. The last I heard, he was still out there getting dirty in the fields.

Here’s a very good Thom Hartmann article about Scalia’s bizzare recent statement on the separation of church and state and the holocost.
