The Legacy of Jerry Falwell

How his intolerance and specific brand of fundamentalism built the modern Republican Party…Perhaps Falwell’s most famous quotation concerned 9/11: “I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America. I point the finger in their face and say ‘you helped this happen.'”

Bells went off in my head from the very start of the bush administration when it was apparent the secrecy they surrounded themselves with the utter non transparency of this administration. The old saying: “If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it must be a duck” came to mind. From the day bush took the oath of office he has been cocooned in a security bubble like I had never seen before in my lifetime for any president. I thought then he is afraid of us, you and I and the American people scared sh*tless of us! I noticed that the secret service was apparent to the point of being the crowd that surrounded him. He only would speak at functions where everyone was screened to the point of having to sign loyalty oaths, a sure sign of a small man full of fear! Couldn’t stand any criticism, thin skinned and petty, not attributes I would ever associate with a real leader. Bush has the misconception that he is royalty not just another citizen like the rest of us, he separated himself from us and now we see it has not served him well!
You know another old saying is the brave die once but the coward dies a thousand times!
Anyway most of the time I truly feel sorry for this little man and at others I am appalled at how much indifference he shows for the rule of law, the constitution and all that stands for America, democracy, freedom etc… Just wish he would have read one history book of our fine country before he succeeds in destroying all that makes us that shining beacon on the hill!

Robt. From what I understand of the law the republican party has been put under a Federal restraining order for caging since 1986 and it is still in effect todate: This is a illegal practice and I am sure they are very aware of it too!!!
Monica Goodling received her law degree at one of the so called Christian colleges (Falwells or Pat Robertson or some such) and she doesn’t apparently know the law??? What’s up with that??? She is not alone as the bush administration has placed many just like her in the judicial branch and their cabinet. those who received degrees but never actually practiced law and evidently don’t understand it either. How convenient is that!!!! (Paybacks for the righteous right wing evengelicals that promotes the bush administration)!!!
