Am I My Brother's Keeper?

October 16, 2017

During this episode I’m joined by callers as we analyze the age old biblical question, “Am I My Brother’s Keeper?” I explains how Democrats usually answer yes, and Republicans usually answer no. One prime example of this is healthcare policy in America.

There are some factions within Fundamentalist-Evangelical Christianity who believe that if they do not try to save the non-believer, then their own souls may be at risk. It is part of their God-given mission to convert & save. As far as birth control & abortion. A thread of this goes back to Medieval times when it was believed that any attempt by a woman to prevent a pregnancy (even if raped, even by abstention) was an attempt to interfere with or circumvent God’s will. The woman was God’s vessel & what ever happened to the child was God’s will. If it starved or died of disease it was up to God. That’s the mindset today, even if they themselves don’t quite get it or understand the origins.
