As I predicted, Harriet Miers has withdrawn her nomination. The Administration’s spin — that it has to do with executive privilege — is laughable since this same White House refused to turn over documents relating to John Roberts work for President George Bush I. The real reason was that the Right hated her.
Why? To answer that question I have invited as my guest, Manuel Miranda, former counsel to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, and founder and chairman of the Third Branch Conference, a coalition of grassroots organizations following judicial issues. Miranda was fired by Frist for secretly monitoring the computers of Democratic staffers on the Senate Judiciary Committee and leaking that information to the press.
The other big news, of course, is the indictment of Scooter Libby, Vice-President Cheney’s Chief of Staff and the highest ranking sitting government official to be indicted in 140 years. Will he keep quiet or squeal on his boss, the Traitor of TraitorGate? Rove has not been indicted but is not off the hook yet. And since Rove and Cheney effectively run the Administration, the indictment of Karl Rove and the Feds barking at Cheney will effectively leave the Bush Administration without ANYONE RUNNING THE PLACE.
But anarchy, after all, would be a dramatic improvement.

More thoughts:
The real reason for the end of the nomination was the Chair of the Judiciary Committee Arlen Specter deciding to ask right-wing minister James Dobson under oath what Karl Rove told Dobson about Miers that Dobson was not allowed to share with the American People. This testimony would have Dobson, fearing perjury, tell the truth that Rove told Dobson that Miers had committed to the President secretly that she would overturn Roe v. Wade. And that would have exposed the Administration in yet another explosive lie.
HAPPY PREDICTIONS (made on Oct. 26, 2005):
Harriet Miers will withdraw. – DONE
Libby will be indicted. – DONE
STILL TO COME
Rove will be indicted
Tom Delay will be convicted.
Democrats will win seats in the House and Senate in 2006
A Democratic President will be elected in 2008, and she or he will remove troops from Iraq.

    A Little Person
Just a little person trying to be
    who they can be,
    trying to reclaim universal dignity,
by saying what they have to say
    in their particular way.
    Just one of the chosen
    who took the challenge
    not to be
anything less than they could be,
    praying for God
    to have them perceive
what God would have them see.
    Just one person
    breathing deeply
    into somber reality,
    quiet peace,
    surrendering to silence
    into humble waters
    of gentle strength.
    Just a blessed person
    reaching for their destiny
    with the power to believe
    they can be
who God would have them be.

One thing Sheehan is not…she is not the “typical soldier’s mother” or the typical grieving mother.
I’m not going to call her a moron or question that she is in fact grieving over her son’s death, but this whole thing is nothing but a front for her political activism.
Personally, she doesn’t have any credibility with me – just my opinion.
