Filibuster Alito?

January 12, 2006

Sam Alito was chosen by the President to overturn Roe v. Wade. Expect him to deny this obvious truth in the upcoming hearings. The question for Mark, however, is will his right-wing, theocratic ideology trump his respect for the Constitution? And will he defend the Bush Administration’s belief that it is above the law?
Mark reports on the hearings this week, and at the end, gives his view on whether Alito should be confirmed or filibustered.
Mark’s guest, Jennifer Van Bergen, is the author of The Twilight of Democracy : The Bush Plan for America and The Unitary Executive: Is The Doctrine Behind the Bush Presidency Consistent with a Democratic State?

I certainly don’t agree that the President is above the law either and I would be tempted to agree with your “hypocrite” statement but I certainly include DEMOCRATS in that assessment!
To have Ted Kennedy questioning Alito is a big fat JOKE.
According to Public Advocate President Eugene Delgaudio:
“Those that serve with Judge Alito have stated that his character is beyond reproach and even the liberal leaning American Bar Association admits that Judge Alito is ‘an individual of excellent integrity.”
Your decision to filibuster might not have anything to do with abortion, but you won’t convince me that isn’t one of the burning issues on those involved in this questioning process!!!

Yes I think they should filibuster Alito and it has nothing to do with abortion. I don’t like that Alito thinks that the president is above the law and that is my concern. That and he favors corporations and is a corporatist to the core! He is not for average joe blow like most of us!
Our founders did not set up this country to have a king after all we had just fought the war to get out from under a kings rule. The set up three branches for the government for checks and balances and that is what I want to keep. You can bet the republicans would be up in arms if a democrat president breaks the law, hell they got up in arms because one didn’t fess up to getting a blow job that was none of their business in the first place and spent $60 or $70 million dollars to do so. So I think all of them are hypocrits of the lowest kind.
