Would the president not need to be convicted before being able to pardon himself?
Being immune to prosecution while in office, would he not need to leave office first, then get convicted, then as not-president, he can’t issue himself a pardon.
It would be odd if he could issue himself a pardon for future crimes to which he is not yet convicted.
