The Hypocrisy of the Right

December 11, 2006

(Archive)
As usual, gay “tolerance” trumps all other issues for hypocrisy on the Right:
1) The Vice President, King of the Right Wing, has a grandchild. For the Left, it’s no big deal for a long-term “married” gay couple to have a child. But the Right, which wants to make such births and marriages illegal, they’re in a bind. How do they support a policy that would amend the Constitution to harm the Vice President’s daughter and grandchild? Best just not to talk about it….
2) Mark Foley — the Ethics Committee releases late Friday (so as to engender little news) a report that says what I’ve been reporting all along — both ex-Speaker Hastert and current House Minority Leader Boehner knew in detail about Foley and the pages. So why is no one punished?
So what’s a Republican-Loving, Gay-Hating Fundamentalist to do these days? Answer: Be very quiet and hope no one notices the hypocrisy…
PLUS the standard religious hypocrisy…
A) I hate when State and Religion are combined, but if the Bible is OK for oaths of office, then by golly, the Koran is too!
B) Is the “War on Christmas” Over? Did Non-Christians Lose?

For continued discussion on Israel, here’s part 3 of a great video:

Not all Arabs hate Israel. Some have recognized the difference between the culture of hate and antisemitism taught in Arab schools and on Arab televisions and the basic humanity in most places in Israel, a nation just struggling to survive against hate and a propaganda of hate.

I urge anyone concerned about the Middle East to watch this video of a Lebanese Christian woman. (This is part 3. If you have more time, watch it from part 1 onward.)

She gives a great history of Lebanon and reminds us that in one war, one man killed more Palestinians than Israel has throughout its entire history.

The man is King Hussein. He was the King (dictator) of the 80% of Eastern Palestine set apart by the League of Nations to be the Palestinian Arab homeland. Currently, we call that country Jordan. In Black Septemberr 1970, Yassir Arafat tried to overthrow the King of Jordan. But unlike Israel, Jordan did not respond with restraint. And the Palestinians never attacked Jordan again…..

If Israel had the inhumanity to respond as Arab Leaders do (and as they’ve done in Algeria, Syria, Egypt, Iraq, and other countries), I think Israel would be attacked far less often. A million people died in the Iran/Iraq War. Did any Arab do anything to stop that war? Do you remember anyone even speaking out about it? I’m not advocating a Black September: only recognizing that the entire world doesn’t care if Arabs massacre tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands of Arabs. The world only cares if an Israeli, acting in self defense, kills one.

Bush KNEW Webb's son almost died in Iraq last week!

SHOCKING UPDATE TO BUSH-WEBB EXCHANGE:
Webb’s son Jimmy was almost killed last week when the jeep next to him was blown up killing three marines. It appears that Bush KNEW Webb’s son was almost killed and that prompted his snarky “How’s your boy?”
Here are some sources for this:

In the words of Congressman Jim Moran (D-VA) who cites “very reliable sources”, “Not only did Bush know about it, he was specifically briefed on the incident before meeting with Webb, and was cautioned to be extra sensitive in speaking with Webb about his son.”
Whatever the facts, we honor the service of Marine Jim Webb Jr. We would never call this honorable Marine who almost died last month a “boy.”

Who is the Defense Secretary Nominee?
Does he also “fix the facts around the policy”?
In our rush to get rid of Don Rumsfeld, could the next Defense Secretary be just as bad?
This article in the Washington Post suggests Gates is as big a “yes-man” as Don Rumsfeld.
