The military backdoor drafts thousands of men and women who have been long released from military service and do not want to go back, while refusing to allow service from willing, capable, and patriotic gay men and women.
Here’s an easy solution: those who do not want to serve need only tell the military they’re gay! This clever bit of civil disobedience would highlight the unfairness of the backdoor draft, the unfairness of the military’s “gay exclusion” policy, AND keep people at home who don’t want to serve in Bush’s “non-volunteer” army.
So come on, draft resisters, you don’t need to burn your draft cards this time around. Just express love for your fellow man!
My guest today, Les Kinsolving, host of the nationally syndicated Les Kinsolving Show, could not disagree with me more. In fact, he would not only ban gay people from the military; he would also ban women from serving in combat! (He says that women are tortured by our enemies more than men, and too many young people, gay and straight, cannot put their country’s needs ahead of their “raging hormones.”)
Also, CBS and NBC refuse to air a United Church of Christ ad demonstrating the Church’s inclusiveness of gay people, while the Washington Post includes an advertising insert full of mistruths aimed at promoting gay-hatred among African-Americans. THIS is the liberal media elite???
